The Indian Railways is conducting a feasibility study on using train coaches as isolation wards in India's fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The Delhi division has created samples for the study, and workshops in other states are also making such facilities.

Features of the isolation coach include bathrooms created by renovating toilets and electrical modifications for medical instruments.

"The Railways will offer clean, sanitised and hygienic surroundings for the patients to comfortably recover," said Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of IndianRailways, on Saturday.
